This page answers why sections of the guide has been removed.

My apologies to the Winny community both inside and outside of Japan, for writing this guide in the first place.

To summarize: to not further dilute the Winny network, sections of the guide that encourages non-social practices has been removed. In the future, this guide may be removed completely.

I had never thought I would be removing information from this guide rather than adding to it, but a recent mail convinced me that it's a good idea...

By writing this guide, I am sharing information that should be useful to most people. That is:

Mostly it's the Open Source spirit of free information exchange, hence the Free Documentation License that went along with this guide.

Though I haven't thought... the non-Japanese people aren't the source of the contents on the Winny network, and are unlikely to upload files that Japanese people might be interested. In the first place, the non-Japanese people aren't likely to use Winny to share anything at all.

By including tips on how to remove files from the cache, how to download more and how to upload less, I am hurting this network more than I am helping it. Of course the Japanese may be doing it too, but they have more right to do so -- they are the main source of content, not everyone else.

Those offending sections have been removed as of today, and similar tips will not be added in the future. Sorry, everyone...
